Log and Timber Work

Live natural- live with wood

We do custom build handcrafted log and timber work and specialize in creating unique homes and cabins.

Mario’s log home designs are built using mortise and tenon joinery and are build to last. These custom made log homes use an over scribed double cut lateral groove system with an inserted P-gasket, which is proven to be air tight but allowing the logs to breath. Oversize logs are also used to provide strong insulation value.

Handcrafted Log Homes

Every  log home is build by us and custom designed in cooperation with the customer. To create your dream log home, we work together with RCM Cad Design, who is specialized in log and timber homes and has more then 30 years of experience. Click here  for further ideas or floor plans.

There are three different common building styles that we use:

1. Full Scribe

This building style is the oldest and most widely known type of log home construction. The technique is thousands of years old and hasn’t virtually changed. It’s proven to work very well, if it’s build right.

Full Scribe Log Homes feature 9-12 rounds of exposed, stacked, horizontal logs, which are scribe-fitted together. We use the over-scribe method and Norwegian diamond-notch to combine precession craftsmanship with state of art techniques.

Full Scribe Homes are amazing energy efficient.

2. Post and Beam

This style consists of many vertical logs, which carry large horizontal logs. Which is the structure framework. Conventional framing or Structural insulated panels (SIPs) will be used between the vertical logs. Post and Beam is very flexible when it comes to design and construction. More options for exterior siding (wood or stucco) or interior finish. Compared to other methods there is no shrinkage or settling of the logs.

Post and Beam can also been used in small areas, such as entry roof to give your standard stick frame house additional character.

3. Hybrid

A Hybrid Structure is another great choice, because it is a mixture of Full-Scribe and Post and Beam. It can be another option for people on a budget, where you still get the natural logs and the option to change the interior and exterior wall finish. It offers the advantage of Post and Beam which make it suitable for large windows and openings, and maintain the character of log walls. And has way less shrinkage and settling than Full-Scribe.

Timber Work

Every Timber structure is a custom designed creation, formed by collaboration between the client and our extensive design build experience. We can start with a simple sketch and a collection of ideas and then, in collaboration with RCM Cad design  (depending on the size of structure), turn them into reality. Mario’s Log Work uses timbers utilizing historical joinery techniques. We offer a variety of Timber constructions:

    • Tiber frame, such as timber trusses, gazebos and timber accents ,and

    • full scribe Dovetail Timberwork.
